IMEU Policy Project – Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the websites, digital tools, and online services operated by IMEU Policy Project that link to these Terms (collectively, the “Site”).
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Purpose of the Site
The Site is provided to:
Share information about IMEU Policy Project’s work and mission.
Offer tools for activism and advocacy (such as petitions, letters to Congress, and action alerts).
Facilitate events, organizing, and volunteer engagement.
Support fundraising and donor engagement.
Nothing on the Site constitutes legal, tax, or professional advice. You should not rely on information on the Site as a substitute for advice from qualified professionals.
2. Eligibility
The Site is intended for individuals who are at least 13 years of age. By using the Site, you represent that:
You are at least 13 years old; and
You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, or you have consent from a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your Use of the Site
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
Use the Site in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation.
Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site or servers or networks connected to the Site.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or any systems, accounts, or networks.
Use any automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access or collect information from the Site without our express written permission.
Post or transmit any content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, or otherwise objectionable, or that infringes any intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.
We may, in our sole discretion, suspend or terminate your access to the Site for any violation of these Terms.
4. Accounts and Security
Some parts of the Site may require you to create an account or provide additional information.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
You agree to notify us promptly of any unauthorized access or use of your account.
We reserve the right to refuse registration, suspend, or terminate accounts at our discretion.
5. Intellectual Property
The Site and its content—including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, designs, and other materials—are owned by or licensed to IMEU Policy Project and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
Subject to these Terms, IMEU Policy Project grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Site for your personal, non-commercial, advocacy-related use.
You may not:
Reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from the Site or its content, except as permitted by law (such as fair use) or with our prior written permission.
Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
6. User Content and License
You may submit content to the Site, including messages to public officials, petition signatures, comments, stories, or other materials (“User Content”).
By submitting User Content, you:
Represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to provide the User Content and to grant the license below.
Grant IMEU Policy Project a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, perform, and create derivative works from your User Content in connection with our mission and activities, including in campaigns, advocacy materials, and communications, in any media now known or later developed.
We may, but are not obligated to, moderate, edit, or remove User Content at our discretion.
7. Third-Party Links, Services, and Content
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, tools, or services (including Action Network, ActBlue, Google services, Meta platforms, UserWay, and other vendors).
These third-party sites and services are not controlled by IMEU Policy Project, and we are not responsible for their content, privacy policies, or practices.
Any personal information you provide to those third parties is subject to their policies, not ours.
Links and references to third parties do not constitute an endorsement or sponsorship by IMEU Policy Project.
8. Advocacy Tools and Communications with Officials
The Site may provide tools that enable you to contact elected officials, agencies, or other decision-makers (such as form letters or email tools).
You are solely responsible for the content of messages you send using these tools.
You understand that such messages may become part of public records maintained by government bodies.
We may retain records of your use of these tools, as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Donations and Financial Transactions
Donations and other financial transactions made through the Site may be processed by third-party providers (such as ActBlue).
By making a donation, you agree to any applicable terms and privacy policies of those providers.
IMEU Policy Project is not responsible for errors or security issues that arise within third-party payment systems, though we take reasonable care in selecting reputable providers.
All donations are subject to applicable campaign-finance and tax laws, and may be publicly disclosed if required by law.
10. SMS/Text Messaging Terms
If you opt in to receive SMS/text messages from IMEU Policy Project, the following terms apply:
By providing your mobile number and confirming enrollment (for example, by submitting a form or replying to a prompt), you agree to receive recurring text messages from IMEU Policy Project, which may include:
Campaign updates and action alerts.
Event notifications and reminders.
Organizing and volunteer information.
Donation asks and fundraising appeals.
Message frequency varies. During peak campaigns, you may receive multiple messages per week.
Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details.
How to opt out:
You can opt out of receiving IMEU Policy Project text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After you send STOP, we may send a confirmation message and then will stop sending further SMS messages from that program.

Your participation in SMS programs is governed by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy (see the “SMS and Mobile Messaging” sections for additional details on data handling).
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties except as necessary to provide the SMS services or as required by law, as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
The Site, including all content and services provided through it, is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IMEU Policy Project disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Any warranties that access to the Site will be uninterrupted, error free, or completely secure.
Any warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content.
You use the Site at your own risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
IMEU Policy Project, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site or these Terms.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to your use of the Site or these Terms will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100) or the amount you have donated to IMEU Policy Project in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless IMEU Policy Project and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
Your access to or use of the Site.
Your violation of these Terms.
Your User Content.
Your violation of any rights of another.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any disputes arising out of or relating to them, or to your use of the Site, are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and by applicable U.S. federal law.
You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice as appropriate.
Your continued use of the Site following the posting of revised Terms means that you accept and agree to the changes.
